Brewmart Czech Pilsner

The first thing I noticed with this kit is it had a range of options for how strong (ABV) you wanted to make this kit using different quantities of
GlucoseBrewingSugar
I opted for about 5.5% and used the standard
BeerInACanMethod with 1Kg of
GlucoseBrewingSugar - this also has an extra packet to add with the yeast of an enzyme for dry beers
It fermented amazingly quickly - 4 days and gravity was at zero. I didn't have enough bottles empty so elected to add a bit more sugar.
WARNING be very careful if you ever do this yourself and learn from my mistake here.
I slowly poured 500g of
GlucoseBrewingSugar into the bucket of already fermented wort. About 10 seconds later it practically exploded. It bubbled up like crazy - about 6 pints pouring over the rim of the barrle before I could force the lid on and get it over to the sink. I then just left the lid on and opened it a crack to let out the pressure.
When I bottled it I only got 34 bottles instead of the usual 40-42. The rest ended up on the kitchen floor, under the dishwasher, the fridge - everywhere. I was not impressed at myself - neither was my wife!!!
Apparantly the way to do it is to mix the
GlucoseBrewingSugar with enough water top disolve it into a syrup then add that slowly. Obviously sterilise everything!!
This should be ready to drink about 7th July....
However given the lovely weather and the fact this is a lager we decided to chill a couple of bottles and sample it early

(1st July)
Very nice, clean crisp taste there is still a very slight aftertaste but nothing offensive and I suspect this will disappear over the next couple of days - deffinatly very drinkable.
Reasonable head formation, little head retention nice pale colour - not bad for a lager at all!!
